Many people feel conflicted between their spiritual yearnings and their social needs. But in truth, social life and spiritual life are inextricably connected: our social and spiritual longings are fulfilled TOGETHER.

We express our spirituality AND our humanity most fully when we love. Granted, loving humanly and Divinely -- personally yet unselfishly -- requires spiritual muscle. But, spiritual muscle develops through social exercise. Relationship constitutes the perfect context in which to develop, test, and stabilize expanded consciousness -- even to the point of realizing spiritual Unity.

Divine meaning of love and relationships

How sad it is that many people consider themselves worldly or weak if they want love. Expanded consciousness is unitive and inclusive, not separative. Relationship is at the very heart of spiritual life. Inasmuch as soul communion fuels the fire of higher consciousness, human love leads to Divine love. When we surrender our attention into the space where we overlap, we find God there too. The Kingdom of Heaven is indeed among us.

We respect the challenge of truly truly loving here on earth, but we know our hearts won't be fully satisfied until we do. The articles here offer inspiration, support, and insight to help you progressively achieve mastery in that wonderful goal. God IS love, His Kingdom is the realm of love. We love our way into it.

Companionship and spiritual support

Relationship is a form of Divine sustenance without which we can't truly thrive. It nourishes us in many ways, including resonance of Godly ideas; recognition and reinforcement of the true Self; opportunities for service and nurturing; sharing of feedback for mutual course correction. In all these ways and many more, relationship contributes to the emotional security and stability of character upon which spiritual progress depends.

Learning from and with others

Most of what we learn from living, we discover in relating. We learn from direct and indirect feedback, and from personal reflection on social exchanges. We learn from mentors, friends, lovers -- everyone teaches us something.

But remember, though all humans are equal in God, individuals inevitably vary in emotional and spiritual maturity. Challenge yourself to take full advantage of the opportunities these evolutionary differences offer. Most importantly, if you need help, get it from someone who is in a position to understand you, and knows what you need to know.
